What can you discover at the Ecomusée de Marquèze in Sabre?
The Écomusée de marquèze is subdivided into two distinct, but related sites. The Marquèze district is the first. It can only be accessed by train during a specific period: from April 01 to November 5. Discover the local people, their homes and their traditional way of life. That hasn’t changed since 1890. This exploration will take you on a journey through time to discover the rudimentary practices and knowledge of yesteryear. As for children, they can turn the 25-hectare neighborhood into a playground.
There’s also the Pavillon de Marquèze. This modern building houses numerous collections of objects. Some exhibitions are temporary, others permanent. Temporary exhibitions, as their name suggests, are temporary. They therefore vary according to the moment: image shots, urban planning, etc. As for the permanent exhibits, they show the detailed history of the Landes de Gascogne.
A wide range of workshops are organized by the Marquèze Ecomuseum. In addition to the activities on the tour of the district, there are also demonstrations by local residents, such as old-fashioned soap-making, spinning, bread-baking and so on. Children can enjoy a variety of games such as riddles, puzzles and more.
